It Could Be An All-Male Idol Semi-Finals

  Round 1 Round 2 Ave
Taylor Hicks 9.3 9.2 9.25
Chris Daughtry 9.1 8.9 9.0
Elliott Yamin 9.4 9.5 9.45
Katharine McPhee 9.0 8.8 8.9

I am really happy tonight!

My favorite, the “laid back”, “humble” and “real” and the “underdog” Elliott Yamin, gave his all-time best performance twice tonight and i’m glad he’s finally starmometer’s idol of the night! His rendition of Elvis’ not so popular songs “If I Can Dream” and “Trouble” rocked the night. That’s why in our scoreboard, he tops both round 1 and round 2. He received great comments from the judges and even Simon noticed that he is fighting for his slot in the semi-finals. Although he doesn’t have a huge fanbase like Daughtry’s i think America is not so blind to notice that we have a star tonight worthy to advance.

This is a night of underdogs in memory of another favorite of mine–“Mandisa.”  I love underdogs, that’s why on second position is Taylor Hicks. Taylor is on his element again singing “Jailhouse Rock.” Got a negative comment from Simon but redeemed himself on his 2nd song “In the Ghetto.”

On 3rd place is Chris Daughtry who i think rendered two safe performances. It’s not bad but its not great either. His “Suspicious Mind” was just ok but his “A Little Less Conversation” lacks the wow factor. The version of season 3’s wild card winner (i forgot his name) was way better.

And lastly, our first placer last week is now our last placer this week–Katharine McPhee. I like her style specially how she consolidated two songs in one performance–historical! Her “Hound Dog/All Shook Up” medley was designed to blow the audience away but it crashed because of one tiny reason–she forgot a part of the lyrics. It didn’t paid off. And it really turned me off. Her second song is her last chance but it didn’t took off either.

I wonder if Elliott’s got the chance to sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love”–one of Elvis greatest hits. I think it would be magical.

Ironically (and contrary to the title), this is my premonition:

  • Who will be eliminated: Elliott Yamin or Taylor Hicks
  • Who should be eliminated: Chris Daughtry or Katharine McPhee
  • Who will get the most number of votes: Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee
  • Who will be bottom two: Elliott Yamin and Taylor Hicks

I know, this is the stage when we will all be shocked. I’m crossing my fingers. I just want Elliott to make it to the next round not because he got the blessing from the judges but because he deserved it.
