Philippine Idol Result Show – First 4 Finalists Revealed

September 4, 2006 by

Before i share my thoughts about the result, watch the recap of last night’s performances:

And now, this is how the result was delivered: Ryan divided the boys into 2 groups. Group A to the left and Group B to the right.

Group A consists of:
Ken, Freddie, Robert, Onyx, Christian <-- when these five were formed, i have this gut feel that this is the bottom group based on their performance last night. Until Joseph was called to be the sixth member of this group and i was like "Oh no".

Group B consists of:
Miguel – i’m not surprised because of the “teenagers vote” that i’ve mentioned in my previous post
Drae – not surprised either, i gave him 9.5 in voice quality and a 9 in idol factor. His video segment is like a political campaign, the “teaching the kids stuff” can’t be missed.
Ramirr – Again, i’m not surprised because he got the standing ovation from the judges. One of my top 4 choices.
Gian – Certainly not surprised, he’s my top bet last night. And i thought he has a large fanbase by the way the audience scream at the call of his name.
Reymond – Not surprised either. The microphone drama is just perfect.
Jan Kurt – Ok this one’s a SURPRISE. In my opinion, Joseph should be in his place. He gets the most negative critique of the night from Mr. C himself. Although he has a powerful voice, his performance (based from last night) is forgettable.

One of the two groups have the Top 4 in them. Group A were asked to sit down, none of them was in the top 4 so obviously, it’s group B who got the most number of votes. But only four will fast track to the Finals.

Ryan called Miguel Mendoza and Drae Ybanez and announced that they both make it to the finals.

Then Ryan called Reymond Sajor and Gian Magdangal. Ryan announced that Reymond makes it in the Top 4 and Gian does not. This is the first shocking moment (Well the idol show is all about that stuff anyway). My top bet not in the Top 4? I realized my 3 votes for Gian using my cellphone, my dad’s cellphone and our PLDT landline are not enough. He’s only in 5th or 6th place.

After the first shocking announcement, here comes another one. Ryan asked the two remaining guys, Ramirr and Jan, to move forward. In my head i’m saying “this one’s easy”. Of course it’s Ramirr. But to my surprise it was Jan who completes the Top 4. Goodness Gracious.

Gian and Ramirr, the two guys who received the most sky-rocketing reviews from the judges were not in the top 4? Ok what’s done is done. I’ll just campaign for these two, including Joseph, on the wildcard round next next week.

So here’s the first four finalists ladies and gentlemen:

Buti na lang kakaumpisa pa lang ng Pinoy Dream Academy pagkatapos ng Philippine Idol. So i switced immediately to channel 2 to unwind from the state of shock only to find out i was shocked again. My golly, pinagkukwentuhan ng mga scholars during breakfast ang tatlong klase ng “utot”.

What a shocking night.
