Kristoff – Victim of the New PDA Rule

October 22, 2006 by

Adding a new rule while the contest is already running (for more than 2 months already) is very intriguing. Last week, this new rule was announced by headmaster Jim Paredes stating that when a scholar is nominated for expulsion for the fifth time, he or she is automatically expelled from the Academy. Although the motive for adding this “intriguing rule” is to preserve the quality of the talents (a rule that should have been applied to Philippine Idol, i might add), it’s quite discernable that it was tailor-made for Kristoff. Kristoff has been nominated for expulsion for four times already and he was saved three times because he always get the most number of votes. This prompted the management to add the new rule last Sunday, and unfortunately for Kristoff, it’s his fourth nomination that night. And last night, he got a grade of 7.1 putting him again in the bottom 4. And the rule will take effect immediately, poor Kristoff was expelled last night.

On the other hand, if they didn’t add this rule, Kristoff may escape all eliminations and may even win the competition. This might be the thing they are afraid to happen, the flaw in the system. Actually, whenever there is a voting process and Filipinos are involved, don’t expect the right results to come out. So we can never blame the original rules of this competition as flawed. We are to blame. We are voting NOT for the right reasons. May it be PDA, Philippine Idol, the Miss Universe Photogenic poll, the local elections, basta may election process, palpak talaga tayo. The ABS CBN management might have seen what’s happening now in Philippine Idol and they took the action to prevent it from happening in Pinoy Dream Academy. If you will ask me, i don’t blame them.
