Music Channel Myx to Launch in US

ABS-CBN Global, the US-based subsidiary of ABS-CBN Broadcasting, has announced the launch of MYX, the first music lifestyle television channel made for Asian Americans in December. MYX, ABS-CBN's seventh international Asian channel, will be the first nationally distributed television channel made for Asian American youth.

“MYX fills a giant void in television and addresses a cultural reality that Americans listen to more than just pop, hip-hop, and rock music produced in the US,” said Raffy Lopez, managing director of ABS-CBN International (ABS-CBNi).

“Ultimately, MYX will cultivate a new marketplace for music and entertainment, fashion and style, for trendsetting youth and young adults,” he added.

MYX will play hits from Asia, Europe and the US, further fuelling the crossover of Asian-inspired multimedia content into a hungry and receptive international market.

MYX’s presence, from airwaves to the streets and from mobile to online, will engage viewers at every possible touch point.

To reach its ultimate goal of becoming a fully connected source of media entertainment to all American youth, MYX will partner with major American, European and Asian music labels.

ABS-CBN has existing carriage relationships with cable and satellite providers across the US. MYX is the number one music channel in the Philippines.
