Pinoy Dream Academy Producer Stabbed to Death

November 4, 2006 by cd

An executive producer of ABS-CBN’s reality show “Pinoy Dream Academy” was found stabbed to death at his home in Quezon City Friday.

The Quezon City Police District said Joselito Siervo, 38, of No. 77 Jose Abad Santos St., Barangay Sta. Cruz, Quezon City, succumbed to 12 stab wounds to different parts of his body.

They added that the victim was naked and his face was draped with a blanket when he was found.

“It’s very apparent that he struggled with his attacker as there are traces of defense wounds [on the body],” Superintendent Procopio Lipana, chief of the QCPD Criminal Investigation Unit, said.

Neighbors testified they heard the victim’s car, a silver Toyota Vios, arriving around 4 a.m. They added, however, that they did not see if Siervo had a companion.

Siervo’s laundrywoman, Nida Canaling, discovered the body at around 9 a.m. “Bukas po iyong main door niya, bukas din iyong dressing room niya pati iyong cabinet niya bukas (His main door, dressing room and cabinet were open),” Canaling told police.

Lipana said it was possible that Siervo knew his attacker because there was no sign of forced entry. He added that police found a black bull cap that might have belonged to the assailant.

Investigators said that the motive might be robbery because Siervo’s mobile phone was missing.

Siervo started working at ABS-CBN in 1998 as a production assistant. He worked in television programs such as “Star Circle Quest,” “ASAP,” “Ang TV,” and “Teysi ng Tahanan.”

In a statement, ABS-CBN said “the company regrets the demise of our Kapamilya Joel Siervo.”

“His unexpected and senseless passing brings great sorrow to us, his ABS-CBN family. We would like to request all our Kapamilya to join us in prayer and mourning for our beloved Joel,” the network said.
