Pinoy Dream Academy – Pinoy Rock and Jukebox Night

When Toni Gonzaga mentioned about “ground-breaking” performances in one part of tonight’s show, it’s not an exaggeration because there was indeed a ground-breaking moment that the judges didn’t see but the faculty and the audience did. The round of 4 starting with Davey and his song Jeepney, followed by Jay R’s Salamat and then Ronnie’s version of Narda and concluded by Yvan’s rendition of Sandalan is one of the rare musical moment comparable to a running plane that is taking off the ground to soar above the clouds. It was filled with climax that you can see how the teachers stood up and how the audience reacted to the energy. But once again, it was sad that the judges have a different opinion.
I really enjoyed tonight’s show. Some of the scholars performed their best ever! Great choices of songs, great energy! Despite what the judges thought, i’ve chosen 5 sizzling hot performances tonight:
SIZZLING HOT
- Jay-R Siaboc – Salamat
- Rosita Bareng – Bakit
- Yvan Lambatan – Sandalan
- Ronnie Liang – Narda
- Joan Ilagan – Nosi Balasi
This means i really DISAGREE with the inclusion of Joan and Jay-R in the bottom 4 because these two gave their best tonight. I also disagree about Panky being chosen as the Star Scholar of the week, i think her performance was just safe and at times boring.
HOT
- Yeng Constantino – Bulag, Pipi at Bingi
- Eman Abatayo – Tayo’y Mga Pinoy
BOTTOM FOUR
- Chad Peralta – Laklak (Watch the video and you will discover there are some pitch problems. Although bumagay sa kanya yung song, pumiyok siya sa mga high notes. Another thing: kulang sa energy.)
- Davey Langit – Jeepney (He didn’t listen with previous advice given to him by the judges regarding playing the guitar while singing. The judges are right with this one, the song controlled him. Nabawasan yung energy ng boses niya while playing the guitar.)
- Irish Fullerton – Ang Himig Natin (It was a poor song choice for Irish, it brought out the worst in her instead of the best. There are some flats in some parts na dapat sustain lang.)
- Panky Trinidad – Beep Beep (Ok, i’m still wondering how she got the highest grade tonight. Although i must admit, she hit the high notes and the low notes very well. But there’s something in her performance that got me bored. It’s the same thing all over again, nothing new. She should try to reinvent herself.)

You were right on what you have said that Joan and Jay-R shouldn’t be in the bottom 4. It was very frustrating and unfair for these 2 who have given their best.
As for everyone, i think they also noted that songs given to Rosita and Panky were both safe for them. Like from the past Rosita has been singing songs from the jukebox queen or same forte of the songs selection. She should also be given a ROCK choice of song. Panky on the other hand has been singing these sort of songs for the past weeks, she has never given a ballad, pop or whatever. Give these 2 songs that they have nver tried before and we can say ABS CBN is fair on this contest.

jay r and joan – i think they’re great. bakit kaya sila na nominate?

But contrary to what you said, Chad ’s performance was good. He was singing Laklak kya medyo parang lasing yung style nya sa stage, although he could have given more.According to Direk Joey Reyes naman(on pda on studio 23) medyo off key si Jay-R during his performance kaya nanominate sya.
