Pool wizard Antonio Gabica won an all all-Filipino finals to bag the Philippines’ first gold medal in the ongoing 15th Asian Games (Asiad).

With the score of 11 to 7, Gabica nipped compatriot Jeffrey de Luna to top the men’s 9-ball event Monday night.

Aside from Gabica’s gold, the Philippines so far has four silver medals, courtesy of Gabica (8-ball), de Luna (9-ball) and jins Tshomlee Go (Men’s 62 kilograms) and Marie Antoinette Rivero (Women’s 67 kilograms). The Philippines also has four bronze medals as of posting time, following victories from pugs Godfrey Castro (Men’s Light Flyweight), Genebert Basadre (Men’s Lightweight), golfer Michael Bibat (Men’s Individual) and jin Manuel Rivero (Men’s 67 kilogram).

China is still on top of the mountain, followed by South Korea, Japan and Kazakhstan.

The Philippines is currently at 22nd in the medal standings.
