February 13, 2007 by cd

Abigail Kathleen Breslin (born April 14, 1996 in New York City, New York) is the cute girl in Little Miss Sunshine in which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in this year’s Oscars. She is the fourth youngest actress ever to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 10 years. The only actor and actresses younger than Abigail were Tatum O’Neal (10 years old), Mary Badham (10 years old), Quinn Cummings (10 years old) and Justin Henry at 8 years old.

Since 2002, she has performed in films such as Signs, Raising Helen, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Keane, Chestnut: Hero of Central Park, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Family Plan. She has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno five times. At such a young age, she has still been able to gain respect from her older peers. Her Sunshine co-stars Greg Kinnear and Alan Arkin both mentioned how “they were astounded by her seriousness of purpose during shooting.”

Breslin is the younger sister of actor Spencer Breslin. The two were cast as brother and sister in Raising Helen.

She recently appeared on “The Tonight Show,” as well as Late Night with Conan O’Brien and discussed her movie, Little Miss Sunshine, and her love for The OC. She also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and on Grey’s Anatomy.
