We have another pinoy in American Idol ladies and gentlemen!!! He is AJ Tabaldo, 22 years old from Sta. Maria California. AJ is an example of persistence because he’s been auditioning for American Idol for 5 years now, and at long last, he made it in the Top 24.

I read from the Idol website that he’s quoted saying, “I’m an ethnic mutt! I’m part Filipino and Portuguese with Spanish, French, Italian and Chinese.”

Most filipinos here at my place atleast , Texas, most of my pinoy friends didnt vote for him after reading that interview, for one, he really looks like filipino and the last name is definitely filipino, and he;s pretty short and claims that he is this and that ethnicity, saw his parents on TV and they were definitely filipinos. I can;t just believe that he didnt hug his roots truthfully and it is pretty obvious what he is, he must know most filipinos have mixed bloods,spanish , chinese , but no matter what we are all filipinos, that is why filipinos can look chinese, look hispanic . Look at Jasmine, she hugged who she really is and the pinoy community defended and supported her.

This message is for Mark “for” Texas. First off, Mark, get the grammar right. Second, you shouldn’t make assumptions that AJ is not embracing his roots. That’s an ignorant statement since you’re basing this on assumptions NOT facts. AJ is my wife’s cousin. His mother is full blooded Filipino. His father is NOT filipino. I know, I’ve met them. He is very much in touch with his Filipino heritage and is close to his relatives on his mother’s side. He is being truthful when he states that his ethnicity is mixed. He is speaking specifically about himself not about how Filipinos are a multicultural and wonderful society.
At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinion and you should vote your conscience. If AJ’s comments turned you off, you had the right not to vote for him. But do us all a favor, before making erroneous statements, please check your facts.
