Spotlight: Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical is Half-Filipina!

Vanessa Anne Hudgens, the star of the hit television show High School Musical, was born in Salinas, California on December 14th 1988 from an American father Greg Hudgens and a Filipina mother Gina Guangco. She has a younger sister named Stella Hudgens who is also an actress like her. She started in musical theater when she was just 8 years old. She landed her first commercial when auditioning for friend of hers who couldnt make it, after that she did some modeling and finally got into the big screen. Her first movie was Thirteen on 2003, followed by Thunderbirds on 2004. The multi-talented star loves acting, singing and dancing, and has always put it all together in theater musicals. Her theater roles credit includes Evita, Carousel, The Wizard of Oz, The King & I, The Music Man, Cinderella and Damn Yankees. Disney Channel's original movie "High School Musical" features Vanessa Anne in the lead role of Gabriella Montez, a shy a-student who has to overcome her fear of performing on stage. Not only the movie but its soundtrack was a hit, bringing Vanessa Anne to the top of the Billboards as well. The best of it all is that Vanessa has released her debut solo album recently with the carrier single "Come Back to Me". Her biggest musical influences are Celin Dion and Alicia Keys. She says, "I want to put like a new genre together. Kinda soulful and kinda rock, and just different, very eclectic. I definitely want to do my thing."
