After the Top 12 performed on stage, here's my fearless forecast: One on the above picture is going home tomorrow, well except for Ryan Seacrest...and Blake Lewis who is behind Ryan. If the one eliminated is not on that photo, it's going to be one heck of a shocker...again. And American Idol is all about these kinds of stuff, if it becomes predictable it will become boring.
In an attempt to keep the show anything but boring, The "Mel and Kiki" show finally share some spotlight to the runners-up. Tonight, they shared some to Phil Stacey and Jordin Sparks who both stepped up their game.
Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson took the contemporary spin on the classics but the judges were disappointed.
And how can you forget the "i-forgot-the-lyrics" faces of Brandon Rogers and Haley Scarnato. Forgetting the lyrics is a major crime in a singing competition. Either one of them should be leaving tomorrow. I wish it's Brandon.
The entertainment value of tonight's show was raised by Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell's exchange of words. After Melinda said the hardest part of the competition was the dresses and high heels, Ryan Seacrest asked Simon Cowell if he had any advice on the high heels. Cowell answered back “You should know Ryan.†And Seacrest retorted “Stay out of my closet.†Cowell then said “Come out.†Seacrest riposted by saying “This is about the top twelve, not your wishes.â€
And my scoreboard for tonight:
SIZZLING HOT
Melinda Doolittle - Home
Lakisha Jones - God Bless the Child
Phil Stacey - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me
Jordin Sparks - If We Hold On Together
HOT
Blake Lewis - You Keep Me Hanging On
Chris Richardson - The Boss
Stephanie Edwards - Love Hangover
WARM
Gina Glocksen - Love Child
Chris Sligh - Endless Love
WARMING UP
Haley Scarnato - Missing You
Brandon Rogers - Can't Hurry Love
Sanjaya Malakar - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Once again, quoting Michael Slezar of EW:
Somewhere out there, A.J. Tabaldo, Sabrina Sloan, Nicholas Pedro, Tami Gosnell, Rachel Zevita, Sean Michel, and a couple dozen other talented Idol wannabes are sitting on their living-room couches and wondering how Brandon Rogers, Haley Scarnato, and Sanjaya Malakar managed to get this far into the competition. In honor of Brandon forgetting the words to the two-note sleeping pill of a song that is ”You Can’t Hurry Love,” I’m going to forget to say anything more about him other than ”Good luck booking backup gigs after that debacle, dude!” He is so going home on Wednesday!
