Veronica Mars to be Cancelled?

I must say, the 3rd season of Veronica Mars is not as exciting as the first and second when she was just a high school sleuth. Due to lack-luster ratings it received from episode 1 to 10 of season 3, the producers are having thoughts if VM shall return for a fourth season. But if the series were to return in Fall 2007, it must be a much different show, quoting the Hollywood Reporter:
“an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBI Academy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Mars (Kristen Bell) has been taking criminology classes and been looking to do an internship at the FBI.)â€
