TIME’s 5 Worst Websites

July 17, 2007 by

TIME magazine picks the sites that are most frustrating, difficult to navigate or in desperate need of an overhaul. Is your favorite site among the 5 Worst Websites?

1. eHarmony.com – It’s a dating site that advices you to stick with it for several months to improve your odds of finding a soulmate. It means the longer you use the site, the more you pay. The site also discriminates against gays.

2. Evite.com – This site is an online invitation designer. The idea has so much potential but Time magazine hated it because it could be very useful but the web design itself needs a major overhaul. Very disappointing.

3. Meez.com – It’s a 3D-animation maker site and it’s supposed to be cool but upon sending your custom made animation to your friends, it will clog their inbox with unnecessary bits.

4. Myspace.com – From making it to Time’s 50 Coolest websites last year, Myspace is now among the 5 worsts simply because it’s been infested with marketers and and other opportunists who create false profiles and essentially spam other users, all under the guise of “making friends.” Not to mention poor web design.

5. SecondLife.com – Second Life is a 3D Online Digital World imagined, created and owned by its residents. Sounds cool right? NOT! When you visit the site, it notoriously slow to load and difficult to navigate even with a broadband connection. You interact in the space through an avatar, but creating and personalizing this animated representation of yourself is tedious. A virtual hangout could be cool, but this one’s pathetic.
