Fil-Am Host Bryan Chan to Tour RP with the Chippendales
August 14, 2007 by cd
Asian American Bryan Chan has been eliciting screams from thousands of women as the headline singer and host for “Chippendales, the Show” at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the past three years. Born to a Filipina mother and a Chinese/Irish father, this singer/songwriter was recruited by the Chippendales on September 2004, making him the first Asian host for the Vegas troupe. After touring various countries with the Chippendales, Chan plans to do an Asian tour, hoping to make the Philippines their first stop.
“I’m excited that our company has decided to explore opportunities to tour some new territories,” admits Chan. “I hope that the promoters in the Philippines will be receptive to bringing us over there to perform.”
In addition, Chan, who has never been to the Philippines before, has sentimental reasons for wanting to perform there. “For me, I know that going to the country where my grandmother was born and where my family began is incredibly personal. It would mean a lot to me to perform in the Philippines, to sing for all those Filipino women. I don’t think there is anything that would make my family prouder and I would get to see a life long dream fulfilled.”
Prior to joining the internationally renowned troupe, Chan was a top-eight finalist on the first season of the hit ABC/MTV series “Making the Band” and was the founding member of Atlantic Record’s pop group LMNT (pronounced “element”). LMNT’s debut single “Juliet” was 2003′s most requested and most played song on the Radio Disney Network. Along with the success of their single “Juliet,” the group successfully toured across America with Britney Spears and shared the stage with well-known acts such as Alicia Keys, Destiny’s Child, Shakira and many others. After four years with LMNT, Chan decided to pursue a solo career and completed a five-song EP entitled The Solo Sessions in 2004.
