Marimar Returns to 40% Bracket, Palos Drops to No. 9
January 31, 2008 by cd
Last week and last Monday night, Marimar went down to the 30% bracket in the tv ratings although it’s supremacy as the Philippine’s no.1 tv program is still undaunted. But on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, Marimar came back to it’s usual 40% territory as it registered an impressive 42.8 percent, more than 6 percent improvement from last Monday’s rating. In consequence, it’s rival ABS-CBN show Palos starring Cesar Montano and Jake Cuenca dropped 1 notch from debuting to no. 8 last Monday to no. 9 last Tuesday with only 22 percent.
Lobo duplicated it’s 27.7 percent pilot rating last Tuesday and remained ABS-CBN’s no. 1 program and 6th overall. But reremember, wala pa sa eksena ang lead stars nito na sina Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin and we have high expectations that Lobo will penetrate the 30% bracket any time soon.
Lobo has all the ingredients to be a hit: great concept, superstar cast, enchanting theme song and extensive promotions. This is one of the two series that i stick to every night (the other one is Coffee Prince). That’s why i believe that when its story hits the climax, it will dislodge some GMA shows in the Top 5 (except for Marimar, of course).
In the daytime race, GMA dominated the rankings with 7 of its program making the list while ABS-CBN has only 3. Two shows reached the 20% bracket, Eat Bulaga and Daisy Siete. As usual, a game show is ABS-CBN’s no. 1 program in the daytime block but it’s not Wheel of Fortune as you might have guessed. ABS-CBN’s no. 1 daytime program last Tuesday was Pilipinas Game KNB? securing the 4th position. GMA’s replacement for the first season of Whammy, Hana Yori Dango 2, is doing good with 16.1 percent and at no. 5 position. Wheel of Fotune only managed to grab the 6th position with 15.7 percent and Wowowee, the 3rd and last ABS-CBN program in the daytime Top 10 is at no. 7.
