Gabby Concepcion is Facing Dilemma on his Comeback Movie

Gabby Concepcion left the Philippines after the 1994 Manila Film Festival awards scandal. After more than a decade, the handsome actor is returning to the country facing another controversy – kapamilya ba siya o kapuso?
His first television appearance since he first landed on Philippine soil after 13 years was the ABS-CBN talk show The Buzz last Sunday. He announced that ABS-CBN has offered him 2 film projects and a teleserye. But he signed a contract with GMA Films last September 2007.
Here’s the sitch:
Gabby Concepcion’s original “comeback” plan was through a movie that he is supposed to make under GMA Films. The movie outfit of the Kapuso network was the first to offer him a project, tentatively titled “Love Cruise” and supposedly written by Gina Marissa Tagasa under the direction of Mark Reyes.
Also starring in the movie are Jolina Magdangal, Rufa Mae Quinto, Mark Herras, Rhian Ramos, and Eugene Domingo.
The cast and crew were about to go to Italy to start filming but all of a sudden, Gabby Concepcion backed out because of “certain problems.” Gabby even explained to Jolina Magdangal the reason was that he didn’t like the script.
GMA films replaced Gabby with Dennis Trillo and the movie will still push through as planned.
And then came Sunday when Gabby Concepcion finally returned to the country and appeared on The Buzz where he announced that he is an exclusive Kapamilya and that his first movie will be for Star Cinema. He will start filming with Claudine Baretto on April 20.
The problem that Gabby is now facing is about the contract that he signed with GMA Films last year. The contract formally indicates that the actor should do his first movie under the kapuso banner and it has a provision that he can’t work with any other production until he fulfills the agreement.
Another legal dispute between GMA and ABS-CBN in the works?

another of abs-cbn\’s dirty tactics… nanulot na naman! last year pa pumirma si gabby sa gma but abs still insisted at hinabol sya early this year. gusto makaisa sort of. but you know what, who is gabby ba ngayon? don\’t think he\’s that big or hot a star pa din. if and when gma decided to pursue their case against gabby, it\’s probably bcoz they just want to fight for their legal rights dahil kung pababayaan na lang nilang ganyan yan eh abs and all the actors who might do the same will never learn to respect the legalities of contracts.

FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT. Nabanggit din ni Mommy Rose sa PEP na limang taon ang kontrata sa kanya ni Gabby bilang manager. Dalawang taon na nakatali si Gabby sa ABS-CBN at Star Cinema. After two years, may plano na ba siya for Gabby?
“Aayusin ko pa rin yung mga aktibidades niya. Maraming offer, napakaraming offer.”
Tapos na raw ang pirmahan nila ni Malou, pero magkakaroon pa raw ulit ng final signing of contract with the new ABS-CBN President Charo Santos Concio.
Hindi naman kaya magkaroon sila ng conflict ng dating manager ni Gabby na si Lolit Solis?

GMA Films president Annette Gozon-Abrogar told the Inquirer earlier, however, “He has a live contract for a movie with us.”
Gabby said he’s willing to finish that GMA flick, but that he thinks the Star Cinema film may start earlier.
Abrogar pointed out: “Our contract has a clause saying he cannot work on any other film until … three months after the theatrical exhibition of his movie with us.”
Flaminiano protested that Gabby’s deal with GMA Films is “only for abroad.” Abrogar countered, “Our contract did not require him to [come] to Manila, but it is for a movie. Since he suddenly withdrew from the cruise project [“Italy—I Love and Trust You”], we are currently developing story lines for him.”
Jolina Magdangal, Gabby’s intended co-star in “Italy,” admitted that she was initially disappointed. “But now I’m happy that I got the cruise movie and he got the kind of comeback that he wants.”
Joey Abacan, GMA Films project director, said: “I believe he’s an honorable man and that he will fulfill his commitment with us.”
Abrogar noted that the only way Star Cinema could push through with the Gabby-Claudine movie was if “GMA Films decides to retrieve the down payment we have already paid him, plus interest.”

Gabby has no balls, has been a user and will always be! GMA should sue his stinkin ass! it was GMAs camp first to revive his career since last year pa. excuse lang nya ang mag-backout probably coz Flaminiano the manager had plans on ABS. pasalamat dapat sya sa GMA dahil interesado sila na marevive ang carrer nya, to think he\’s a HAS BEEN. i dont like this networks war, but what i dont understand is, why ABS always has interests on GMA talents and projects. if they were interested with Gabby why wait for 13 years? why wait kung kelan si Gabby nakapag-sign na ng contract sa GMA films? si Gabby di nag-iisip oo lang sa manager nya na mukhang pera. he\’s not a man, tulad na lang ng ginawa nya before kay Sharon. then ginamit nya si Grace Ibuna kasi mapera. loser talaga, dapat talaga kasuhan ng GMA yan kung gagawa ng movie first sa Star Cinema. kung ako sa ABS, dami naman talents nyo, bakit nagkainteres pa kayo dyan. mismo si Sharon away gumawa ng movie with him. di naman kasi magaling mag-act. he\’s just a pretty face, nothing more. just my 2 cents. walang papalag. peace
