Jose Antonio Vargas is the 6th Pinoy to Win the Pulitzer Prize

27-year-old internet savvy Filipino American, Jose Antonio Vargas, became the 6th Pinoy to win the Pulitzer Prize. (Complete list of Filipino Pulitzer Prize winners after the jump)

josevargas.jpgThe young journalist won the Pulitzer in the breaking news category for the two front page stories featuring the Virginia Tech massacre in the Washington Post published on April 16, 2007.

“I was lucky to get an interview with one of the eyewitnesses,” he recalled. “I found this eyewitness on facebook.com. I got him on the phone, we talked for about 25 minutes, and he was the only eyewitness we had on the story, so it was a critical part of it.”
