Yesterday, many are predicting that today's bottom two on American Idol would be Jason Castro and Brooke White. Jason because he had his worst performance on his American Idol run and Brooke because she forgot the words to her song and she had to restart her performance. America voted and neither of them were not in the bottom two.

Instead, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado, the two aspirants who delivered the better performances fell in the bottom two.

Ryan asked Randy about his opinion, Randy said “I am shocked. It must be a bit of a popularity week in the vote, Ryan. Those two sang really good last night.”

Both Carly and Syesha received rave reviews yesterday that even Simon Cowell picked Carly’s rendition of “Jesus Christ Superstar” as one of his favorite performances of the night.

After 38 million votes, Carly Smithson was eliminated on Idol.
