David Archuleta Knocks Out David Cook on American Idol Finale

The American Idol final two performance show kicked off like it was a boxing match. An announcer introduced David “Sugarfoot” Cook and David “Babyface” Archuleta, both in boxing gear. After thousands who auditioned, who would have thought that we'll end up with a David vs David bout?

In the traditional coin toss on who will have to pick the order of performance, David Archuleta won and elected to sing second. Historically, those who have gone second won the title, well except for Ruben Studdard in season 2.

In the first round, the 2 Davids performed songs selected by Clive Davis:

David Cook
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”

David Archuleta
“Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”

In the second round, the 2 Davids performed songs from the songwriting contest.

David Cook:
“Dream Big”

David Archuleta:
“In This Moment”

In the third round, the 2 Davids performed songs picked by themselves.

David Cook:
“The World I Know”

David Archuleta:
“Imagine”

The judges, at least 2 of them, were in favor of David Archuleta. Randy Jackson declared David Archuleta as the best singer of season 7. Simon Cowell said David Archuleta knocked David Cook out.

Ruben Studdard closed the show by singing “Celebrate Me Home.”

Here’s the video on why David Archuleta will win tomorrow:
