Rudy Fernandez’ Movies to be Shown Exclusively on ABS-CBN 2

The Kapamilya Network has acquired the rights to the movies of Rudy Fernandez, considered to be Philippine Cinema’s Prince of Action, and will be airing these movies in the future on a weekly basis.

Last December 18, 2007, Daboy, as the actor is known in the showbiz world, signed a contract with ABS-CBN, giving the network the rights to show his films on TV. Rudy who was at that time already battling cancer, appeared very jolly in facing the network’s executives. Tentatively, airing of his films will start by the end of the Fernando Poe Jr. Cinema Collection during Saturdays.

Daboy first made waves in the film industry with his 1976 film Bitayin si Baby Ama, which opened doors for him in action movie genre. It was in 1984 that he bagged best actor awards from the FAMAS and Star Awards for the movie Batuigas…Pasukuin si Waway. This was followed by another best actor award in 1988 for the movie Victor Corpuz.

The actor has made almost 100 films in his lifetime.
