Journey’s ‘Revelation’ Album Lands on Billboard Top 5

The latest album "Revelation" of American rock band Journey, powered by Filipino lead singer Arnel Pineda, landed on no. 5 in the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

In Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart for this week, the Journey’s “Revelation” album is on the Top 5 spot followed by Ashanti’s album “The Declaration.”

The three-disc CD/DVD package has sold more than 104,000 copies in its debut week according to Wal-Mart Stores, Journey’s official distributor, marking the band’s biggest first week’s sales since 1996’s Trial by Fire.

Released June 3, 2008, Revelation’s first week’s sales marks a 1,400% increase over the band’s first week’s sales of their previous album Generations in 2005.

The first disc consists of 11 new songs, the second is filled with 11 re-recorded classics, and the third is a live, in-concert DVD.

The new album has received rave reviews, including the New York Times who hailed: “…the band seems to have taken rock vitamins: it feels alive.”

Journey, composed of Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Filipino bar singer Arnel Pineda who was discovered by the group via Youtube (vocals)—is currently on a European tour through June 28.

“Revelation” marks Pineda’s first CD since taking on the duty of frontman for the legendary rock band.

Pineda said songs in the album include: Never Walk Away; Like A Sunshower; Change For The Better; Wildest Dream; Faith In The Heartland; After All These Years; Where Did I Lose Your Love; What I Needed; What It Takes To Win; Turn Down The World Tonight; The Journey (Revelation). Only The Young; Don’t Stop Believin’; Wheel In The Sky; Faithfully; Any Way You Want It; Who’s Crying Now; Separate Ways (Worlds Apart); Lights; Open Arms; Be Good To Yourself; Stone In Love.

Arnel Pineda appeals to his fellow Filipinos to support the album.

“I hope it goes platinum. This is history for the Philippines. I really thank my fans who have supported me even when I get criticized and discriminated against. I hope they support Filipino artists who are struggling in the Philippines and abroad,” he said.
