ABS-CBN climbs the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Top 200 Corporations, GMA slips undefined undefined undefined Filed under: ABS-CBN, GMA Author: ABS-CBN had jumped to the 43rd slot in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s 2007 list of top 200 corporations from 68th last year, after the country’s largest media firm’s net profit in 2007 went up by an annualized 71%.
The company, which has an interest in radio, cable television, movie production and publishing, posted a net profit of P1.27 billion and total sales worth P19.9 billion last year.
In contrast, the company said, its rival GMA Network, Inc. slipped to the 93rd position from 77th in 2006.
The rankings were based on a report released by the corporate regulator, it said. ABS-CBN post-ed a net profit of P514 million in the second quarter, up by 12% from a year earlier.
This concludes that experts in corporate operations favor the performance of the Kapamilya Network. In contrast to its announced increase in net income, interesting to note, GMA was still ranked 77th.
