The Love of Siam is Competing in Cinemanila

The beloved 3-hour romantic coming-of-age drama from Thailand starring Mario Maurer is competing in Cinemanila!

The Love of Siam is written and directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul. A multi-layered family drama, a controversial element of the story is a gay romance between two teenage boys. Starring in the poignant movie are Witwisit Hiranyawongkul as Mew and Asian Heartthrob Mario Maurer as Tong. It dominated all of Thailand’s Movie Award-giving bodies in 2007 by grabbing the Best Picture awards.

Although The Love of Siam is a three-hour long movie, you’ll wish it won’t end at all as it is very endearing and engaging. It’s one of the few films that will last in your memories for a period of time after watching it.

For those who are not yet familiar with the movie, The Love of Siam is competing under the Southeast Asia category of the 2008 Cinemanila. You can catch it on October 16 to 29, 2008 at the Gateway Cineplex 10 in Araneta Center. Visit the official website of Cinemanila for the screening schedule of “The Love of Siam.”
