Mexico Wins Beach Beauty in Miss World, Philippines One of the Top 10

Miss Mexico, Anagabriela Espinoza Marroquin, won the Beach Beauty competition in Miss World 2008. She is the first contestant to fast-track in the Top 16 by winning the special event.

25 out of 109 contestants were shortlisted to compete in this year’s Beach Beauty event at the Beverly Hills resort in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa Saturday.

The 1st runner up was Tansey Coetzee, Miss Africa, The 2nd runner-up was Ksenia Sukhinova, Miss Russia.

Prior to the announcement of the winners, The Top 10 were announced including our very own Danielle Castaño, Miss Philippines. Also in the finals were contestants from Angola, India, Lebanon, Puerto Rico, Spain and Venezuela.

Completing the Top 25 semi finalists were the delegates from Australia, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Paraguay, Serbia, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, United States, Uruguay and Zimbabwe.

This is the 6th consecutive year that the Philippines made it to the Beach Beauty competition out of more than 100 contestants every year in Miss World. Maria Rafaela Yunon made it to Top 10 in Beach Beauty & Top 5 in Miss World finals in 2003; Maria Karla Bautista made it to Top 5 of Beach Beauty & Top 5 in Miss World finals in 2004; Carlene Aguilar made it to Top 19 in Beach Beauty & Miss World semi-finals in 2005; Anna Maris Igpit made it to Top 25 in Beach Beauty in 2006; Margaret Wilson made it to Top 21 in Beach Beauty in 2007.
