It's now official, Diether Ocampo will remain a kapamilya as ABS-CBN and Star Magic prevented his alleged transfer to GMA. And Diet's next project in his mother studio? The Philippine remake of the Mexican telenovela "Rubi"!

Kristine Hermosa was first considered for the role of Rubi but she declined because the role is too sexy and it’s against her religious conviction. Kristine said she’s now a born-again Christian that’s why she’s choosing the role that will not contradict with her beliefs.

Kristine’s lost is Angelica Panganiban‘s gain as she will play the role of “Rubi”, originally played by latina bombshell Barbara Mori. This will be her very first title role in a primetime drama series on ABS-CBN. Angelica will be reunited with her “Iisa Pa Lamang” co-star Diether Ocampo who almost transferred to GMA for the Philippine remake of the koreanovela “All About Eve” opposite Iza Calzado. Diether will assume the leading man role originally played by sizzling hot latino hunk Sebastian Rulli.

Here’s the plot of Rubi:

Rubí is a beautiful, charismatic young woman from a working-class background. She is studying at a university because of her sister’s great efforts. Rubí is best friends with Maribel, a wealthy young woman with a small defect in her leg. Rubí eventually meets Maribel’s boyfriend Hector and his best friend Alejandro. A much darker truth lies inside of Rubí. She is driven by a dark ambition that will stop at nothing to get what she wants, and what she wants is to escape from poverty and be wealthy.
