Disney’s ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ Casts Box Office Spell

Disney's "Race to Witch Mountain," kept North American moviegoers spellbound over the weekend raking in 24.4 million dollars.

Race to Witch Mountain is a family adventure movie from Walt Disney starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Get Smart, The Scorpion King), Ciaran Hinds and Anna Sophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia).

The number two film was the superhero movie “Watchmen”, based on Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel of the same name, which earned 17.8 million dollars. Watchmen is the no. 1 movie last week.

The horror remake “The Last House on the Left” scared up 14.1 million dollars, landing it into third place. Based on Wes Craven’s 1972 movie of the same name, the film deals with parents take revenge on a gang that kidnapped and assaulted their daughter.

The racy comedy “Miss March” debuted at a disappointing 10th place, bringing in 2.4 million dollars.
