Willie Revillame, the most powerful entertainer in the country, personally paid a whopping P4 million VAT for this month in BIR last Friday as witnessed by the press.

This means the Wowowee host earned P40 million for March alone.

“I pay my tax legally. Dapat kong bayaran ‘yun, obligasyon ko yun e. In fairness naman sa BIR, pinagrereport naman nila ako. Hindi naman nila ako hina-harass e,” said Willie.

Atty. Teodoro Galicia, BIR head of investigation, clarified that Willie regularly pays his taxes in his own will and not because of the “probe team.”

“Willie Revillame is a good example for big time tax-payers,” he said.

Next month, Willie is scheduled to pay P5 million as 10% of his income for April.

It was also reported last Friday that Willie Revillame is the most powerful entertainer in the country according to YES! magazine. One of the factors for the “most powerful” label that was given to him by the said publication is his daily income of P1 million a day for hosting the ABS-CBN noontime show.

Willie’s rival host from rival noontime show Joey de Leon, who is no. 10 in the “Most Powerful” list is skeptical with the ranking procedure. On his show Startalk last Saturday, Joey opined that the basis for the ranking should not be about money alone. He said another factor for being powerful is the people’s respect.

“‘Yung power ba rito ay kasali yung respeto ng tao? Ikaw ba ay walang dinaya sa buhay mo sa pagiging powerful mo? Ikaw ba’y walang ginoyo? Naging malinis ka ba o pantay sa pakikisama sa mga tao?” asked by the Eat Bulaga! host.
