Adam Lambert Shines Anew on American Idol

Adam Lambert showed his softer side on the Top 10 performance night of American Idol for his smooth rendition of "The Tracks of My Tears."

The song was a 1965 hit single by the Motown group The Miracles and written by their mentor of the week, Smokey Robinson.

The 26-year-old theater actor hit all the high notes of the motown classic receiving standing ovation from the audience after his performance.

Adam temporarily ditched his rocker getup for a sleek Elvis-looking style.

Kara DioGuardi said “I don’t stand up a lot but I got to stand up. One of the best performances of the night. Awesome!” Paula Abdul said “You are in your own league. I love the clean look. Very handsome and classy. You are exciting.” Simon Cowell said “I disagree with Kara because it was THE best performance of the night. You sum up everything about originality. You have emerged as a star.” Randy Jackson said “Tonight you showed you can pull it down and sing tender moments. Hot!”

It’s interesting to note that last week, Simon commented that Adam’s rendition of Johnny Cash‘s Ring of Fire was horrendous. This week, Adam emerged as a star in his eyes.
