The Mel Gibson movie "The Passion of the Christ" was named Top Grossing Indie Movie of All Time by Yahoo!

The controversial religious movie starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus was also the highest grossing non-English language film and the most successful R-rated film in the United States. It is based on Catholic accounts of the arrest, trial, torture, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus, events commonly known as “The Passion”.

The Passion of the Christ earned $370,270,943 in the US and $611,899,420 worldwide making it the top-grossing indie film of all time.
