World View Presents Think Positive! on GMA-7
April 10, 2009 by cd
On April 12, Vicky Morales meets the new face of HIV and AIDS in the Philippines.

In December, Wanggo Gallaga, son of acclaimed director Peque Gallaga, surprised the whole country when he admitted on national television that he has HIV. His admission was met with confusion: How can a young, healthy-looking professional be infected with the dreaded virus? In the minds of many Filipinos, Wanggo does not fit “the mold” of a person who has HIV or AIDS.
More than a decade ago, statistics showed that most Filipinos with HIV or AIDS are either sex workers or OFWs. Now, according to the Department of Health, infected patients are getting younger and younger. Last year, more than 60% are between the ages of 20 and 29. Most are males, infected through sexual intercourse with the same sex. Are they the new face of HIV and AIDS in the Philippines?
In his interviews, Wanggo says the main reason he came out is to help educate Filipinos about the virus. Having HIV or AIDS is no longer the death sentence it was before. With medication and a proper lifestyle, people with HIV and AIDS can now live normal lives. He also stressed the importance of getting tested for the virus.
In the US, experts are continually looking for a cure and finding ways to improve the lives of people living with the virus.

enough with this class a,b,c world class rubbish..
none of the stations has a monopoly of any of the classes..
network preference is as simple as ice cream flavor preference. some likes vanilla, some likes chocolate, some likes both, some prefer other flavors..
just like in station preference, some from the upper class may prefer ABS while some may prefer GMA (and others may like both or maybe, do not care at all).. the same with the class D, E, some are kapamilyas while some are kapusos..
i don’t even see the big deal..
kung gusto mo ang ABS, good for you, kung GMA ka, ok..
ba’t kailangang laitin yung kabila?
do you guys feel the need to validate your choice as if there is such a thing as an intelligent choice when it comes to TV channel preference?
Stupid.

Tange, sisihin mo mga advertisers at media survey company. (TNS and Neilsen) sila naglabas ng data ng market segmentation ng viewers ng ABS-CBN at GMA.

Big deal yan ksi advertisers wanted to know which station is worth to put their ads. Which determines purchasing power? The ratings which is based on quanti ty of viewers or quality based on social and market classes?

=== Hindi nakuha ang balita sa Dos lang.
From TNS Asia Pacific Director sabi nya there is almost nothing between the two netwoks in Megamanila. In NCR alone almost 2% na lang.
Neilsen also posted that there is only 5% difference in the total household share between GMA and ABS-CBN in Megamanila. Hindi rin Northern Luzon ang balwarte ng GMA kundi Central Luzon and the fringes of Metromanila like, Laguna and Bulacan due to technicality in the signal reception of Ch2.

CENSORS to SUE GMA over SPOOF
Manila Standard
17 March 2009 | 11:00 PM
By Rio N. Araja
THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board plans to sue GMA Network Inc. and a broadcast journalist (Vicky Morales)for using the Philippine flag and the presidential seal on the weekly public service program Wish Ko Lang.
In a letter dated March 5, board chairman Ma. Consoliza Laguardia complained to GMA Networks senior vice president, Wilma Galvante, that the shows use of the flag and presidential seal violated the law.
In its Feb. 28 episode, the show paid tribute to Herman Nicolas, a 78-year-old shoe-shine attendant who polished the shoes of the Presidential Security Group in Malacaang.
Stand-up comedian Ate Glow did an impression of President Arroyo recognizing Nicolas hard work on an improvised stage in front of a podium beside the presidential seal and a flag.
The presidential seal is a symbol for the exclusive use of the President and Vice President and no other officials, Laguardia said.
She said she wanted the network to execute an undertaking to issue a public apology, but the network executives, represented by Lani de la Cruz and Lyn Delfin, rejected the offer.
The chairperson was shocked by the networks stance. We never had a hard time demanding an apology from its officers and talents in the past, said the boards legal counsel, Jonathan Presquito.
We are preparing a suit to be filed with the Quezon City prosecutors office,he said.
Our board will have to approve and recommend who to name as respondents. We are looking into the liability of the other network officials. [Vicky] Morales, the program host, may be included. Let us wait for the boards recommendation.
Presquito said the board had the power to shut down or suspend the airing of any program. The unauthorized use of the presidential seal was punishable by six to 12 years in jail.

Kapal ng GME.
Kinabog na ang KBP pati
MTRCB kinabog din!

I think this documentary by GMA is a welcome change because in the past few years, the station was airing kiddie movies on Easter Sunday.
It will be up against some Hollywood movies on the other channels but this should be a good alternative.

network wars= lame and immature.
onTopic: It’s good to know that GMA will be producing this kind of show. It’s timely and very informative. Kesa mga chismis ang pag-usapan, dapat this types of issues ang dini discuss.

“Big deal yan ksi advertisers wanted to know which station is worth to put their ads. Which determines purchasing power? The ratings which is based on quanti ty of viewers or quality based on social and market classes?”
i do agree with your point that these are important to advertisers.
