Leona Lewis is 2009 World’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity
June 25, 2009 by cd
British pop star Leona Lewis is voted this year’s Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarian in the World.

This is the second time that X-Factor winner Lewis has been voted Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA or People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Lewis has been a vegetarian since the age of 12. She inspires fans all around the world by her commitment to advocating a vegetarian lifestyle. And no wonder, after a month-long poll conducted by PETA.org, the songstress bested other Hollywood stars like Carrie Underwood, Hayden Panettiere, Shania Twain and Alicia Sylverstone for the title.
“I am vegetarian so I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from leather or suede or any animal products. … I’m on a mission,” she said.
Leona’s male counterpart is 38-year-old British actor/model Scott Maslen. Scott is perhaps best known for his portrayal as DS Phil Hunter in ITV’s The Bill and now Jack Branning on the BBC’s flagship soap EastEnders.

………..
Don’t u know that this was during the month of January 2009 but after that month ABS-CBN recovered to the point that for the month of May alone they accumulated a very impressive revenue of 1.4+ billion pesos, the first in the history!=> at wag nyong i-compare ang income ng ABS sa GMA kc yung ABS ay pinakamalaking media conglomerate sa bansa na may malaking expenses for each of its subsidiaries while GMA has less expenses for its not-so-big subsidiaries kya malaki natira sa pera at yun yung dahilan kung bakit malaki ang natira sa income nila.

GMA 7 pays income taxes equal to rival’s earnings

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines’ leading broadcast company announced that it paid more than a billion pesos in corporate income taxes, an amount that is nearly equal to its rival’s earnings last year.
GMA Network Inc., which runs the country’s first and third-ranking free TV channels, paid P1.106 billion in corporate income tax in 2008, chief financial officer and senior-vice president for corporate services Felipe S. Yalong said in a statement.
The amount does not include other taxes paid for by the network including value added tax (VAT), withholding tax, among others, the company said in a statement.
“GMA leads in fulfilling its responsibilities as a corporate citizen as our corporate income tax almost equals our biggest competitor’s net income for 2008,” Yalong said.
The company’s rival, Lopez-led ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. reported a nine percent increase in net income to P1.38 billion last year. The increase was attributed to higher revenues from airtime and direct sales, which rose by 12 percent to P22.3 billion.
For its part, GMA Network Inc. earned P2.369 billion in 2008, three percent higher than the previous year, thanks to increased airtime revenues from TV and radio.
The company also produces and broadcasts radio programs in 16 cities and one municipality across the Philippines on its wholly-owned network of 24 radio stations and one minority-owned radio station.
The company recently declared a cash dividend of P1.7 billion, equal to 70 percent of its 2008 net income.
Stockholders as of April 21, 2009 are entitled to receive 35 centavos for each share held which will be payable on May 11, the company said during an analysts’ briefing earlier this month.
The dividend payout is 40 percent higher than the 25 centavor dividend issued in 2008.
GMA Network has established itself as the most profitable broadcast company in the country for the past years with its 2008 net income being P1 billion higher than its rival’s net profit for the same year, the company’s statement said.
