PAGCOR Tower and Entertainment City Soon to Rise in Manila
June 30, 2009 by cd

Dubbed as the “New Nayong Pilipino,” an integrated resort with a world class theme park, casinos, hotel, museum, shopping malls, sports arena, coliseum and a sky high tower will soon rise near the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.
The Entertainment City aka E-City Manila is an ambitious project of SM Group, Genting Group of Malaysia (the creators of Genting Highlands, the Las Vegas of Southeast Asia) and Aruze Corp. of Japan. It will be constructed at the 100-hectare Bagong Nayong Pilipino complex along Manila Bay and beside the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
The premiere entertainment complex will boast of the superhigh PAGCOR tower that will compete with Menara tower in Kuala Lumpur and Macau Tower in China.
The initial investments for the project are expected to reach US$6 billion and once completed, it would create more than 200,000 jobs.
The first phase of the three-phased development is expected to be completed in two to three years. It will include hotels, sports arena, museum, world class theme park, and an oceanarium.

Greater and grateful at 59
From its very humble beginnings as a radio station owned by Robert “Uncle Bob” Stewart to what it is today as challenger to the no. 1 broadcast network in the Philippines, GMA has scored impressive wins.
Now on its 59th year, the Kapuso station has much to be thankful for. In 2008, GMA inaugurated one of the most technologically-advanced studios in the country today—the GMA Network Studios. With cutting-edge equipment and world-class studios, the Kapuso station has come up with more award-winning programs.
Moreover, GMA enjoys the utmost trust of Filipinos, the widest coverage in the country, the highest ratings in Mega Manila and Luzon, and profitable operations despite the economic downturn.

MANILA, Philippines – Media conglomerate ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. reported a net income of P191 million in the first quarter this year, down 21 percent from the P242-million profit recorded the previous year
GMA Offering superior programs and the widest reach across the country, GMA Network also dominates the ratings race.
Data from AGB Nielsen Philippines consistently indicate that GMA Network reigns supreme in Mega Manila—the more relevant area to advertisers. The Kapuso network is also ahead in Luzon, and is continuously growing in the national survey. Based on data from AGB-Nielsen Philippines in May, GMA Network posted a total day (6 a.m. to 12 midnight) household audience share of 40.2 percent, 9.2 percentage points higher than ABS-CBN’s 31 percent. Twenty-two out of the overall top 30 programs were from GMA Network, with the first four programs in the list all Kapuso primetime hits.
As such, despite reductions in industry advertising expenditures, GMA Network remains financially strong and has consistently been ahead of its competitor in minute loading. In the first five months of 2009 , GMA Network registered a net income of P1.087 billion, a growth of 22 percent from the P890-million bottom line last year. Gross revenues for the five-month
period grew by 7 percent to P4.952
billion. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was at P1.854 billion, 12 percent higher compared to 2008 figures.
GMA’s investments in the past years (regional expansion, state-of-the-art GMA Network Studios) solidifiy GMA’s position as the premier network in the Philippines, gearing it for greater growth in the future.

Two new primetime programs from rival networks premiered last Monday night and both emerged victorious in their corresponding timeslot.
All My Life starring Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal took the timeslot of Hole in the Wall to pit against the hit koreanovela Boys Over Flowers. And according to AGB Nielsen’s overnight tv ratings in Mega Manila, All My Life registered 23.6% in the pre-primetime timeslot while Boys Over Flowers garnered 18.7 percent.
In the late primetime timeslot, The Wedding starring Anne Curtis, Zanjoe Marudo and Derek Ramsay also had it’s pilot episode last Monday night and it got 21.1% beating its rival Cruel Love which only garnered 18.7 percent.
All My Life took the 9th spot while The Wedding took the no. 10 slot in the primetime race. The 9th and 10th position can be considered “normal” for the two programs since both do not fall in the main primetime time slot which is 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The important thing is that these two programs have beaten all their rival shows and emerged no. 1 in their corresponding time slots.

tutulan yan!

this pagcor buzz. no public official except pagcor’s has commented yet. in case this is true, and the ripple effect of prostitution, government can definitely curtail it. but we all know our leaders. they’re the best in honesty and serving the public interest first before themselves.
