Top 20 Programs in Urban Luzon for June 7 to 27, 2009

ABS-CBN’s teleserye May Bukas Pa is the no. 1 most-watched program in Urban Luzon from June 7 to 27 based on the overnight tv ratings of AGB Nielsen.
However, 13 out of the Top 20 most-watched programs for the same period belongs to GMA-7. This is the reason why GMA has a larger audience share in Urban Luzon than ABS-CBN.

IPO proceeds of GMA-7 spent according to plan

MANILA, Philippines – Proceeds of GMA Network Inc.’s initial share sale was spent according to plan, records submitted by the company to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) indicated.
Of the P1.538 billion it raised during its initial public offering (IPO) two years ago, the company already spent P1.338 billion as of end-June this year, the same documents indicated.
The latter figure comprises roughly 85 percent of its share sale proceeds.
As of June 30 this year, the Philippines’ leading network has already spent P373 million for the construction of two new television studios and P195 million to strengthen and upgrade its signals.
“Our priority in 2009 is achieve superiority in ratings over our nearest competitor not only in Mega Manila and in Luzon but also nationwide. Our initiative to improve our reach and signal in the regions will remain unabated,” Gozon said in a general assembly attended by employees in May.
Some P72.56 million will be spent for the upgrade of its facilities in three provinces, Gozon said.
Nineteen and a half million pesos will be allotted for tower reinforcement and a replacement of a new antenna for TV5 Davao and P28.5 million for the new five kiloWatt (kW) UHF TV relay station in Jala-Jala, Rizal to “augment” its signal in Laguna using Channel 25.
Shares of GMA Network Inc. rose ten centavos to P6.30 apiece during Friday’s trading at the PSE.

May bagong show ang TV5, ang title ay G&G (Goals & Girls). Both from ABS-CBN & GMA ang mga bida (Empress Schuck, Dino Imperial, Krissie Martinez, PJ Valeriano) and it also stars Ryan Julio (the cute guy with aliens in the Nescafe commercial!) So mga Kapamilya at Kapuso, manuod kayo G&G!

Twenty out of the top 30 programs belong to GMA with Zorro, Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, 24 Oras, Totoy Bato and Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? in the top 10 roster.
AGB Nielsen Philippines provides TV ratings data to at least 24 local companies including GMA Network and another TV channel (not ABS-CBN). Top media agencies plus six regional clients likewise subscribe to AGB Nielsen. Its rival TNS, on the other hand, has not provided updated information on their client base during their industry presentation last May 29.
With a total of 1,650 home panels in Total Urban Philippines, AGB Nielsen Philippines was first to release official National Urban TV Audience Measurement data in January 2007. TNS, on the other hand, has less home panels nationwide with 1,250 and began releasing official national data only in February 2009.
In addition, AGB Nielsen has been providing Mega Manila TV Ratings data since January 2001 while TNS began only in September 2007.

tanong ko lang po… bakit po ba ratings ng Mega Manila at Urban Luzon ang laging pinagkukunan ng ratings at laging pinapakita…? dahil po ba dominated ang ratings ng Gma..? diba dapat ang pagbabasehan na nangunguna ang isang show it should be the entire Nation or nationwide ratings…? and we know na ABS CBN ang No.1 in Nationwide ratings…
hmmmmmmm…. AGB talaga pinapaburan ang Gma para akala ng mga tao na always no.1 ang Gma… eh sa Mega manila lang naman cla mataas ang ratings eh at maliit lang naman ang agwat sa ABS…
