congrats oprah. most influential ka pala.

si president gloria naman ng pinas, MOST CORRUPT, bwa ha ha ha ha

by the way, WAGI sa audience shares at viewership ang KAPUSO.

kasi nga, basta kapuso, very charming at lovable.

IPO proceeds of GMA-7 spent according to plan

MANILA, Philippines – Proceeds of GMA Network Inc.’s initial share sale was spent according to plan, records submitted by the company to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) indicated.

Of the P1.538 billion it raised during its initial public offering (IPO) two years ago, the company already spent P1.338 billion as of end-June this year, the same documents indicated.

The latter figure comprises roughly 85 percent of its share sale proceeds.

As of June 30 this year, the Philippines’ leading network has already spent P373 million for the construction of two new television studios and P195 million to strengthen and upgrade its signals.
“Our priority in 2009 is achieve superiority in ratings over our nearest competitor not only in Mega Manila and in Luzon but also nationwide. Our initiative to improve our reach and signal in the regions will remain unabated,” Gozon said in a general assembly attended by employees in May.

Some P72.56 million will be spent for the upgrade of its facilities in three provinces, Gozon said.

Nineteen and a half million pesos will be allotted for tower reinforcement and a replacement of a new antenna for TV5 Davao and P28.5 million for the new five kiloWatt (kW) UHF TV relay station in Jala-Jala, Rizal to “augment” its signal in Laguna using Channel 25.

Shares of GMA Network Inc. rose ten centavos to P6.30 apiece during Friday’s trading at the PSE.

GMA Network leads biggest, comprehensive 2010 elections coverage

Leading broadcast company GMA Network forged partnerships with top business organizations and other institutions in the Philippines to deliver the widest and most comprehensive all-media coverage of the elections dubbed, Eleksyon 2010.

Giants in the field of communication and information pledged to pool their respective resources and competencies in what is expected to be the biggest and most wide-ranging coverage of the 2010 electoral exercise, one which will involve the most experienced, credible, and trusted names in media, the new technologies, the academe and public service.

The group counts in its roster GMA Network, RGMA Network Inc. /dzBB, GMA New Media Inc., GMANews.TV, GMA Pinoy TV, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., Smart Communications Inc., the Philippine Daily Inquirer, lnquirer.net, Catholic Media Network, Solar Entertainment Corp., AMA Education Systems Holding Inc., Ateneo de Manila University School of Government, De La Salle University, San Beda College of Law, University of the Philippines School of Economics, University of Santo Tomas, Solar Entertainment, Commission on Elections, Philippine Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections, Youth Vote Philippines, Rock Ed Philippines, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Institute for Political and Electoral Reform and the Philippine Bar Association.

“Now we have a working democracy… which is our collective responsibility. Our task is to educate, inform, and empower our voters to vote and to vote wisely,” said GMA chairman, president, and chief executive Atty. Felipe L. Gozon during the formal signing of the memorandum of agreement held last July 3 at the GMA Network Studios.

PLDT and Smart chair Manuel V. Pangilinan responded, “Our goal is to provide our media partners the latest and the best technology that is available.”

Marixi Prieto, Inquirer chairman, acknowledged GMA Network for “the opportunity to have an active participation in influencing our country’s future.” She added that all partners “should be more conscious of their role as agenda setters and advocates of social progress.”

For the Catholic Media Network, president Fr. Francis Lucas committed a 54-strong radio network with stations located in far-flung areas such as Abra, Laoag, Tawi-Tawi and Jolo.

Amb. Amable Aguiluz V, AMAES chairman , said that the school will mobilize over 10,000 dedicated IT experts in major precincts and city halls. “Using our private network and the Internet, over 200 AMAES campuses, housing over 5,000 computers and running our developed election software, will act as hubs transmitting critical data from voting and counting centers to the command center at Channel 7,” Aguiluz added.

PCIJ executive director Malou Mangahas remarked that the bottomline is that, “elections—clean, honest, orderly, and credible—are also a periodic test of democratic processes and institutions; a mode for changing leaders in a peaceful way… a trigger for policy change or continuity; an enabler of good governance.”

As Dela Salle University president and chancellor Br. Armin Luistro, FSC, committed the school’s resources, especially their pool of academic experts, he also pledged to “keep the doors open so that La Sallian students could be effectively mobilized and subsequently voluntarily participate in worthwhile public information or advocacy activities that are part of Eleksyon 2010.

Dean Antonio La Viña of the Ateneo School of Government said that the partnership with GMA serves as its platform to reach the “broader public in sharing information from its data pooling, studies, and convenings.”

The UP School of Economics, through Dean Emmanuel de Dios, likewise pledged support by bringing to the partnership experts in the field of economics.

The University of Sto. Tomas, with its Centers for Social Research and Culture, also brings to the partnership not just academic expertise, but a pool of 40,000 students and almost 2,000 academic personnel for country-building efforts.

With its thinktank composed of alumni, law students and faculty, the San Beda College of Law pledged support to the effort to inform, educate, guide and protect citizens in the exercise of their right to elect new leaders. Aside from this, the Philippine Bar Association will likewise provide Eleksyon 2010 the necessary legal backbone.

A first-timer in the elections coverage, Solar Entertainment, through president Wilson Tieng, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in “what can be the most defining moment in our recent history.”

YouthVote Philippines, now in the forefront of national voters’ registration and education programs, will further harness the energy and power of youth, together with RockEd Philippines.

Meanwhile, IPER executive director Ramon Casiple commended the laudable effort to ensure free and fair 2010 elections. He said that “a lot still needs to be done to regain the credibility of the electoral process,” but remained optimistic that media will play a decisive role in bringing forth right and adequate information to the public.

PPCRV/Namfrel chairperson Henrietta de Villa also expressed support for the coverage as Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento, who represented Chairman Jose Melo during the agreement signing ceremonies, declared, “I’m very sure that with this providential collaboration, a visionary one, many good things will happen with our country in 2010 and thereafter.”
