Both GMA and ABS-CBN covered the funeral of the former President Cory Aquino last August 5 from the Requiem Mass to the actual burial.

Since it’s a non-working holiday, Mega Manila televiewers watched the 8-hour funeral in their homes as reported by AGB Nielsen.

GMA’s “Salamat at Paalam Cory” topped the daytime race with 29.9 percent. In close second was ABS-CBN’s “Salamat, President Cory: A People’s Farewell” which garnered 29.6 percent.

In the primetime block, ABS-CBN dominated the coverage with TV Patrol World getting 37% at no. 1 followed by “Salamat, President Cory: A People’s Farewell” with 31.7% at no. 2.

Regular programming resumed on Thursday with GMA dominating the Top 5 in the daytime race with Eat Bulaga! at no. 1 followed by “Kung AAgawin Mo Ang Lahat sa Akin”, “Daisy Siete”, “Hole in the Wall” and “Ngayon at Kailanman” respectively.

However, ABS-CBN dominated the primetime race. May Bukas Pa is back at no. 1 with 34.9 percent followed by Tayong Dalawa. Completing the Top 4 for ABS-CBN are TV Patrol World and Only You.
