2009 MMFF: ‘Mano Po 6′ – Trailer Released
November 27, 2009 by cd
Regal Films has released the official trailer to their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, Mano Po 6.

When it was announced that megastar Sharon Cuneta was tapped to play the lead role in Regal Films’ “Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love,” the public already got a glimpse of the importance and the bigness of the new Mano Po movie.
As Sharon’s first movie in the said film outfit, producer Lily Monterverde assured everyone that only the best would be given to the megastar and to this significant movie, including a whopping P70 million budget.
True enough, “Mano Po 6” boasts of having only the industry’s best in the production team headed by acclaimed director Joel Lamangan and scriptwriter Roy Iglesias. Sharon shares the screen with showbiz’s most respected actors and actresses like drama king Christopher De Leon, singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, young stars Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Ryan Eigenmann, and movie icon Boots Anson-Roa with Kris Aquino in a special role.
“It’s a dream come true for me to finally get Sharon to do a movie for Regal,” Mother Lily allows. “I kept on saying that I want to do that before I retire. I’m really happy that Sharon said yes to this project.”
A moving story of a mother’s love for her daughter is the core theme of “Mano Po 6,” where Sharon plays a Chinese matriarch whose desire is to get back her rebellious daughter (Heart Evangelista) at all cost. The compelling family drama strongly delves on relationships and the bond within the Chinese clan. It also espouses the family values and the rich culture and tradition of the Chinese.
Asked what sets this “Mano Po” movie apart from the previous ones, Mother Lily replies, “this project for Sharon is exceptional and very detailed, moving and dramatic. Bagay talaga kay Sharon ang role.”
Aside from being Sharon’s first project with Regal, “Mano Po 6” also marks another first – the featuring of Mother Lily’s Greenhills mansion, which serves as the megastar’s house in the movie.
“It was Sharon herself who requested to shoot in my house,” Mother Lily discloses. “I couldn’t say no to her. It turned out to be a good decision.”
“Mano Po 6” will even send a 50-member entourage of stars, production crew and members of the press to Beijing to shoot added footage, thus giving more interesting and authentic Chinese visual to the film.
“Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love,” which opens on December 25 during the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), promises to be the most unforgettable, biggest drama movie in recent years. Also in the cast are Nina Jose, JC de Vera, Nicole Uysiuseng and John Manalo.

Sharon has definitely become a better actress. Dati medyo exaggerated siya. Now, she is able to show restraint in dramatic highlights.

I think Heart is the hottest young actress this season. With 2 entries in the MMFF; “Mano Po 6″ & “Nobody Nobody but Juan” and a Korean Remake Series, “Full House.” Plus signed endorsements to come… I just love Heart!

maganda ang production..
kaya lang parang boring ang storyline…

the storyline is so typical, nothing new. Sharon shifted back again to rag to riches story of a woman who seek for revenge after struggling with abject life. does “bukas luluhod ang mga tala” line sounds familiar. sharon has established herself as one of the sought after actress if philippine cinema. is just a shame that she would have to remain in her comfort zone again(after caregiver) instead of trying out uncharted waters.

This is not a sequel! Sequel means , karugtong ito ng iba pang Mano PO, which is wrong! First, they need to change the trailer that they show here, cause they are now showing a HIGH QUALITY trailer on youtube. …

Sharon is great in this movie! I’m predicting more acting awards to come other than the MMFF BEst Actress trophy that i’m very sure, SHaron will win. Dayaan na yan pag nanalo si ANgelica over SHaron!

I just saw the premier night of Mano Po 6 and i’ve seen most of the movies that are actually good and the performances of great actresses. I must say that Mano Po 6 is the best Mano Po. Though it’s not perfect, the acting is spectacular and so are the technical aspects. The movie doesn’t bore. And the one that holds the movie in one piece is the performance of Sharon Cuneta. This is probably her most sincere portrayal. She was great in all of her scenes. She didn’t waste any of her scenes. The greatest performances this year by an actress came from this short list… Anita Linda in Lola, Vilma Santos in In My Life, Gina Alajar in Dukot and SHaron Cuneta in Mano Po 6. Topping my list is SHaron Cuneta’s flawless portrayal as a mother trying to get back everything she’s lost. None of the other above mentioned actresses gave the most consistent and most heart wrenching portrayal than Ms. Cuneta’s. It’s about time Sharon receives another grand slam win as Best Actress.
