Justin Bieber’s ‘My World 2.0’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200

My World 2.0, the second of two-part debut studio album of Canadian lad Justin Bieber, debuted at no. 1 on Billboard Top 200 albums.

During the results show of American Idol last Thursday, Ryan Seacrest congratulated Justin Bieber for hitting the no. 1 spot of Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart. Justin graced the singing competition to watch his mentor–Usher–perform.

Justin Beiber’s My World 2.0 is the follow-up to the first platinum certified half of the album, which was released on November 17, 2009, via Island Records. 2.0, on the other hand, was released last March 19, 2010. In addition to having a more dominant R&B feel than his first release, the album is described as edgier and more mature.

The album has initially received positive reviews and has sold 283,000 copies on its first week. The charting made him the youngest solo male act to top the chart since 1963 when Stevie Wonder did with The 12 Year Old Genius, and the first artist to occupy two top five spots on the chart since Nelly in 2004.

The album is preceded by the lead single, “Baby”, featuring Ludacris which was released last January 18, 2010, and two digital singles, the “Never Let You Go” on March 2, 2010, and “U Smile” on March 16, 2010. The previous is set to be released later as the album’s second single.
