Cinema One Announces Its Final 7 for Cinema One Originals 2010

7 independent films were chosen to compete in the 2010 Cinema One Originals Independent Film Festival.

Cinema One Originals’ seven finalists are Remton Zuasola‘s “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria Kirschbaum;” Richard Somes’ “Ishmael;” Jason Paul Laxamana’s “Astro Mayabang;” EJ Salcedo’s “Third World Happy;” Joaquin Pedro Valdes’ “Dagim;” Sig Sanchez’s “Tsardyer;” and Michael Angelo Dagnalan’s “Layang Bilanggo.”

Cinema One reviewed and deliberated on over 100 submitted and defended screenplays. Now on its 6th Year, this year’s Cinema One Originals Filmfest will award P1,000,000 to each of the chosen seven (7) finalists to produce their movie. This will culminate in a highly anticipated awards night in November 2010.

Since 2005, Cinema One Originals has become a venue to discover and nurture new talents who have now gone on to bigger projects and wider audiences – may they be debuting filmmakers, screenplay writers, cinematographers, production designers and of course, actors and actresses. It has bravely contributed to closing the gap between commercial filmmaking and the more arthouse/indie approach to produce more compelling films that move beyond the boundaries of the mainstream.

Cinema One Originals is owned and produced by Cinema One, the top cable channel of Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI).
