‘The Correspondents’ Documents Problematic Elections in Abra

The province of Abra is not a stranger to election-related crime. In fact, two weeks before the May 10 elections, an encounter led to the death of a man due to political differences.

This Tuesday (May 17) on “The Correspondents,” look back at the incidents that rocked Abra in the exclusive report of Abner Mercado.

Mayoralty candidate Ryan Luna’s supporter Mario Acena was allegedly gunned down by Luna’s rival Dominic Valera, who is the incumbent mayor of Bangued. Acena was said to be shot after playing Luna’s campaign jingle too loud.

Meanwhile, in the town of Tineg, an election hotspot, the police and military looked closely in the delivery of ballots and PCOS machines. The ABS-CBN team also had lent its generator to make sure power interruptions won’t interfere with the elections.
