‘Magkaribal’ Ramps Its Way on Primetime
“Magkaribal,” starring 2010 Gawad Pasado Awards Best Actress, Bea Alonzo and 2009 Star Award’s Best Actress Gretchen Barretto. Derek Ramsay, Angel Aquino, Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales complete the series’ casting coup.
Working together for the first time, Bea and Gretchen first found it quite uneasy to portray their roles as rivals in this series but, because of their natural acting prowess, the two were able to adjust quickly to their new characters. “What makes it more challenging is that it’s our first time to work together and magkaaway pa kami agad,” Greta shared. She added “I must say that I have learned a lot from Bea. At a young age, she can level up to any kind of actor or actress. She’s really one of the best actresses na na-encounter ko.”
“It’s so nice to be back sa primetime. When I heard about the project, I can’t help but get excited. Panibagong family na naman ito. And so far, I am enjoing every taping day.” Bea revealed in an interview.”
Paired up with Derek Ramsay for the second time, Bea admitted that she missed working with her And I Love You So leading man. Gretchen on the other hand considers this project as a dream come true. The latter has been very vocal and open on how she really wants to be teamed up with the “man of the hour.”
In the series, Gelai (Bea) is the Queen of Divisoria. She is the blissful and selfless sister of the Queen of Philippine Fashion, Victoria (Gretchen). As they stumble upon each other, rivalry is then born which, the two must both endure in order to fulfill their dreams and to get what they want. They are contenders in many ways, even in love. Louie (Derek Ramsay) is the man the rival sisters are eyeing for. He will definitely add spice to the heated competition of Gelai and Victoria as he also proves his skills as the URCC Champion. Also playing pivotal roles in the said series are Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales, one of the finest and tested love teams on Philippine television.
Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales have proven their worth via two consecutive hit series, “Katorse” and “Tanging Yaman.” As they enter a new project, their star, as a tandem, will surely glitter more.
Angel Aquino, one of the country’s fashion icons, will also play a vital character in the story. Also part of “Magkaribal” are other showbiz A-list stars: Mark Gil, Robert Arevalo, Bianca Manalo, Nina Ricci Alagao, and Arlene Muhlach.
This Nuel Naval and Mae Cruz masterpiece will feature a well-designed story and genuine situations which many viewers could possibly relate to. Witness how “Magkaribal” raises the bar of primetime series’ premiering on June 28 on ABS-CBN.
