Competition Brewing on the Set of ‘Martha Cecilia’s Kristine

After only three weeks on air, “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine” has emerged as one of primetime’s most popular shows, consistently entering the top ten programs nationwide based on the overnight ratings of Kantar Media-TNS.
Much of the credit is given to its two love teams, Zanjoe Marudo and Cristine Reyes who play Jaime and Jewel, and Rafael Rosell and Denise Laurel who portray Marco and Emerald.
While Rafael and Denise or “Rafnise,” as fans would call them, are known for their sizzling intimate scenes, Zanjoe and Cristine have created a following for their funny love-hate relationship as fake husband and wife.
Tongues are wagging that the success of both pairings has brought tension to the set of the program, with both love teams fighting for exposure and fan support. But the stars themselves deny there is such an issue.
“We work hard for the bigger picture, pero in terms of inaaway namin ang isa’t – isa, hindi ganon. One team lang naman kami,” Rafael explained.
Denise added that each of them are given time to shine. “Walang damutan. Even Direk Rory says that every character will get a chance to shine with the twists and turns in the story.”
Last week, viewers saw Emerald and Marco take the spotlight with their sensual show of love and affection that surely heated up the nights of viewers. Rafael said the scene, which showed only their silhouettes, was one of the most creative he has done in his career.
“It was more of a dance. It was just beautiful. It was very natural doing scenes with Denise,” he said.
Denise, meanwhile, said she was quite nervous watching the scene after the take. She joked, “Inisip ko hindi na ako makakauwi sa amin.”
While the most sensual on-screen sweethearts both maintained that they are keeping things professional between them, Prince of Passion Zanjoe and Jewel of Romance Cristine admitted to being in a deeper relationship than before.
After getting caught in a controversy in twitter, the sexy twosome has grown closer and more open with each other.
“Mas naging close kami. Kumbaga, may pinagdaanan na kami,” Zanjoe revealed.
He added Cristine has promised to help him return to twitter. “Babalik ako, ‘yung mga nagfollow sa ‘kin dati, follow niyo ako ulit,” he said.
Aside from his twitter comeback, fans of the show and the number one best-selling pocketbook series should watch out for the major change in his character “Jaime.”
