Miss World Update: Puerto Rico Wins Beach Beauty, Czarina is Competing in Beauty with a Purpose
Miss World’s Beach Beauty competition, the first of 5 fast-track events, happened today at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Sanya, China. The 40 semi-finalists for Beach Beauty competed for the title vying for the first slot in the Top 25.
The Top 40 were trimmed down to the Top 20. The 20 were trimmed down to Top 5 where Puerto Rican beauty Yara Liz Santiago emerged as winner.
The Top 5 are (from left to right) Miss China Xiao Tang (4th), Miss United States Alexandria Mills (2nd), Miss Puerto Rico Yara Lasanta (Winner), Miss Norway Mariann Birkedal (3rd) and Miss French Polynesia Mihilani Teixiera (5th).
Meanwhile, our very own Czarina Gatbonton is hoping to win the “Beauty with a Purpose” fast-track event in Miss World
2010 in order to secure a spot in the Top 25.

Continuation: Pero sa Miss World dapat hindi tayo nagpapadala ng hindi nakasagot ng Ingles sa Bb. Pilipinas Pageant. Pinoy audience nga hindi makasagot sa Ingles, sa World pa kaya. Next time naman, mag-isip isip diba.
Dapat hindi si Gatbonton ang ipinadala para ilaban sa Miss World 2010. Hindi nga nakasagot ng Ingles sa Bb. Pilipinas. Kaya nagtagalog yon kasi hindi kayang sagutin sa Ingles ang tanong. Nagpauto naman ang mga hurado at organizers. Dapat ang ipinadala nilaay yung nanalo ng Bb. Pilipinas International. Mas magandang sumagot yon. Hay naku. Hindi makakasagot yan ng Ingles dun. Pwede pa siguro kung sa Miss International ipadadala si Gatbonton. Sa Miss International, walang Q&A dun, may chance pang manalo si Gatbonton dun. Hindi naisip yan ng Organizers ng Bb. Pilipinas. Sa Miss International pwedeng magpadala tayo ng hindi marunong mag Ingles gaya ni melanie marquez pero hindi sa Miss World.

THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CARES ABOUT “ACCENT, GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT AND PRONUNCIATION AND EVEN CORRECT SPELLING” IS JUST FILIPINOS… There’s nothing wrong of having a thick accent… Is just natural to her, and to all the nations that usually don’t have English language as their every day language… Just as long as it’s not a hindrance of doing her obligations and responsibilities as a beauty queen… THERE’S NO PROBLEM WITH HAVING A THICK ACCENT. And besides… not all titleholders of Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth knew how to speak english fluently… Just like the newly crowned Miss Universe 2010, Jimena Navarrete of Mexico.

In recent years, Karla Bautista was our best bet so far in Miss World. Ang galing mag-English !!!
she is prety pero ang tigas ng accent nya lol..madali lang naman gawan yan ng paraan pero bakit di sya gumawa ng paraan..hayyyy
Somewhat weak in terms of public speaking, I am not sure if she has what it takes but good luck anyway.
It seems she is not a good speaker but she earns a spot in our hearts for being a simple girl coming from an improverished family with a big dream. Good luck Czarina.
