First Look: Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

Sony has released the first photo of Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man costume.

For the clueless, Spider-Man 4 which is supposed to be shown this year was cancelled due to Sam Raimi‘s (director of Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3) withdrawal from the project. Sony announced that the franchise will in turn be rebooted with new director Marc Webb and a new Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield.

Emma Stone (Easy A) is Gwen Stacy, one of Spider-Man’s earliest love interests in the comics. Martin Sheen is Uncle Ben, Sally Field is reportedly cast as Aunt May, Denis Leary is the father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and Rhys Ifans is the Lizard.

Spider-Man The Reboot is scheduled to be released in 3-D on July 3, 2012.
