27th Star Awards for Movies – 2011 Nominees Revealed

The family drama "Sa 'Yo Lamang" and the musical/cultural film "Emir" lead Philippine Movie Press Club's (PMPC) 27th Star Awards for Movies.

“Emir” was the biggest box-office flop of 2010 but in terms of critical acclaim, it’s a different story. After bagging numerous trophies at the Golden Screen Awards, the Frencheska Farr-starrer has received 11 nominations in PMPC’s Star Awards.

    BEA ALONZO for the win!

  16. utang pa rin // April 30, 2011 at 10:54 am //

And yet the 87% net income increase yielded a total of P3.2 billion ONLY, compared to 0.1% increase made by GMANetwork NI total of P2.82 billion.

Come to think about it, between 3.2 billion and 2.82 billion, HOW much is the difference? The answer is 380 million ONLY.

Putting it in another perspective, 2.82 billion is almost 90% of 3.2billion. so the difference is only TEN percent.

TEN percent difference, hence the 87% increase in ABS CBN net income is not really that great when comparing the 2 networks’ net income last year, is it?

So, who do you think is laughing all the way up to the bank. Confident ako na Masaya ang mga taga GMA7 dahil bilyones pa rin ang kinita nila last year.

Para naman sa ABS CBN, confident ako na masaya ang mga CREDITORS dahil kumita ang ABS CBN ng P3.2 billion, confident ako na maganda ang outlook ng mga CREDITORS ng ABS CBN this year dahil kahit papaano, makakabayad ang ABS CBN sa kanilang P21.6 total liabilities dahil nga kumita sila at malaki ang REVENUE last year.

  17. from other sources..

that is the fact, no more no less: abs-cbn has committed itself up to P21.6billion loans and liabilities to produced a net income of P3.2billion.

on the other hand, gma7 has efficiently managed to produced a P2.82billion net income from its own resources and committing only of up to P2.6billion loans.

Taking advantage of prevailing low interest rates and its stronger financial performance in recent years,(2010) ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate, today signed a P10 billion syndicated term loan agreement to refinance existing debt as well as fund planned capital expenditures and general working capital requirements.

Of the P10 billion total loan amount, P6.6 billion will go toward refinancing existing debt, while the remainder of P3.4 billion in new debt will help fuel the Company’s continuing growth. The new debt is intended for planned capital expenditures in digital terrestrial TV infrastructure and the continuing expansion requirements for cable TV and other services.

Kung manalo man ang mga comedy movies, dapat people should respect the outcome of the selection process. Also, the best actress. But I hope it’s not always going to be drama movies that will win.
