Charice sticks to the required march up-tempo rhythm of the hymn.

I’m still having thoughts why the Americans have freedom in slightly changing the melody of their national anthem to make an emotional and heartfelt and sometimes dramatic rendition…and we don’t. Charice singing the national anthem could have been a blast if she has the freedom to make the last note marvelously high, but of course, it’s against the law.

Oh well. It’s a good rendition nonetheless.

    I don’t see why people think it would be that much better if Charice belted the last note or made the tempo slower. I think the Philippine Natl Anthem is beautiful as it is. I live in the US, and I absolutely HATE it when people try to overdo the Star-Spangled Banner. It takes away from the meaning and the original beauty of the song. Plus, did anyone else catch Christina Aguilera at the Superbowl? She was so caught up in trying to do ridiculous runs and high notes that she messed up the words in front of millions of viewers. So kudos to Charice for being the only singer so far to realize that belting isn’t the only way to make a song sound beautiful.

    Yes, you were being negative. And people respect your opinion. In my opinion, I think her team is doing fine, taking it slowly and/but surely.

    Patience, my friend. She is better off where is is now.

    Honest opinion ko lang about Charice.I think she’s very talented, but the thing is, as she grows older humihina ang performance level nya. She got probably the best voice in this generation, but as a performer, she is quite lacking. The voice would surprise a lot of people first time na marinig sya, but after that kapag sanay na ang tao, wala lang.

    Charice needs to re-invent herself. Kasi frankly, even w/ her talent, she does not stands out.I missed that malikot and confident presence she used to have on stage. Ngayon, parang naging mahiyain at reserved sya. They prolly calls it “control”, but i dunnow, medyo nakukulangan ako lately from her. May “umay” factor sya.

    And unfortunately talaga, even w/ her enormous talent, medyo talaga yung physical appearance nya is holding her back.Sabi nga ni Simon Cowell, to be successfull talaga sa hollywood, talent is usually secondary to your charm and looks. Minority and ethnic pa.And poor communication skills pa.

    Good luck to her, pero sana she can prove me wrong.I’m not being negative, but it is the reality in this business.

    Kakafrustrate din lang kasi, w/ all her exposures and big backings from influential people, ambagal ng progress ng career nya.Oh well.

    i love Charice and all the filipino artists.i’m very proud of them. but i have to say sarah had the best rendition ever.

    Charice probably has the highest voice, and i admire her for making it simple.kaya lang di memorable and remarkable.kahit sa US kapag ikaw ang nasa spotlight, u do ur best para magstand out.Pero ok na rin.

    I agree with the author, unlike US at buong mundo na malaya ang singers gumawa ng creative rendition na pwede i maximize talent nila, eh kinukulong nila ang mga artist dito sa 4/4 beat at nagmumukha lang silang ordinaryo. Di alam ng mga kano na may ganung batas dito kaya iisipin nila na hanggang dun lang si Charice. Dapat baguhin na baduy na batas na yan.

    Hindi po pwede baguhin ang tempo and rhythm kasi nasa constitution po yun. Bale, batas po ito. Maybe sa America, walang batas na ganun. So pwede.

    Siguro, it’s a part of respect na rin na kantahin ang Lupang Hinirang with its original tempo and rhythm. Ganun. 🙂

    pabor ako na di tayo tulad ng america na pwedeng pakialaman yung national anthem. kasi pag pwedeng galawin at ibahin, pwedeng mababoy ang kanta. kayo ba matutuwa na may mag rap rendition o heavy metal version ng lupang hinirang?

    yung kay martin na lang e, parang ang selfish na gagawin mong sa yo yung kanta.
