James Durbin is Eliminated on American Idol

Just like what happened to Chris Daughtry, rocker and front-runner James Durbin missed the Final 3.

Ryan Seacrest announced that almost 72 million votes came in and its the biggest vote total for a Top 4 show.

Before the results, James Durbin and Scotty McCreery take the stage to sing “Start a Band” by Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. Then Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart sing Gunpowder and Lead. It feels like the night’s theme is country music, perhaps they’re looking for a country artist to win American Idol?

Ryan Seacrest announced that the first contestant to move on to the next round is…Lauren Alaina!

Results paused, guest performances aired: Enrique Iglesias performs “Dirty Dancer” and Jordin Sparks sings “I Am Woman,” her new single. Then Steven Tyler‘s brand new music video is shown.

Results continued, Haley Reinhart – the contestant that the judges threw under the bus last night is safe! Two girls are in the final three!

And between Scotty and James, you already know that the country singer is safe and rocker goes home. Jennifer Lopez cries. Seacrest out!

    I’m a 60 year old woman who has watched ‘Idol’ since the beginning. I’ve never stated my feelings on-line until the disgusting results of last night. James deserved to be in the top three — he IS the top 3. Obviously something is very wrong with the voting system. How can a talent like James be voted off — absolutely ridiculous — who’s doing the voting?!?! The judges should have more say on who continues on — the voting audience of simple minded young girls who have no appreciation for real talent are controlling the outcome with no thought to the true talent of those in the singing contest, and they are forgetting IT IS a SINGING contest. James will succeed without the bubble heads’ support. I will be first in line to buy his first CD. Rise up James – you are it!

    I like James Durbin…ive got shocked when he voted off…i cant believe. Why james not Lauren ??? For me james is still my idol…he is a good singer and shining star @__@

    ang drama kasi. may issue sa tatay, sa health nya, sa partner, sa anak?! i mean lahat naman ng finalists may kani-kaniyang problems, pero di nila nililitanya every week just to get sympathy whatsoever. siguro naisip ng america na ok, you wanna go home? ok, we’ll send you back home. pang finale naman talaga sya sa talent nyang yan, nasobrahan nga lang sa drama na wala na sa lugar.

    FACT: one of the best season of AI

    OPINION: America have made bad decisions for eliminating Pia and James
    Instead both of them should have been in the top 3.

    FACT: Haley should have been out. I hate her attitude. She doesn’t know to deal with constructuve criticisms. Disrespectful.

    OPINION: Lauren or Scotty for the win.

    I’d rather want Lauren Aleina voted out. She is the weakest link from that group. James Durbin rocks! He deserves to be the American Idol 2011. We want unique, versatile and very talented singer. Anyway at the end James will be the most popular from their group.

    it would be a tough decision for the americans to choose who’ll be entering the finals but it would be easy for me to pick lauren and scotty to advance to the finals! their young and brilliant..
