‘In the Name of Love’ Hits P47.31-M on its First 5 Days
The Olivia Lamasan-helmed movie which also stars Jake Cuenca on his best performance ever topped Philippine box-office for the opening weekend of May 11 to 15, 2011. It bested the opening weekend record of previous leader, Hollywood film “Fast Five” which had a 5-day gross of P47 million last week.

Both dubbed as the highest budgeted TV series, IMORTAL and AMAYA are simply one of the biggest and most talked about TV Projects in Philippine history! IMORTAL was ABS-CBN’s biggest project for 2010, while AMAYA is thought to be GMA’s biggest project for 2011!
Now comparing the extent of promotional efforts and public disclosed production value, AMAYA stands to be a bigger more expensive project than that of Angel Locsin’s IMORTAL! However, despite the enormous efforts GMA-7 has put up to advertise AMAYA, its pilot episode failed to out match IMORTAL’s debut rating even in the Kapuso Teritory in Mega Manila!
AMAYA’s pilot episode stood 14.3% in Mega Manila still short of IMORTAL’s premiere rating of 15.1%! This despite the fact that IMORTAL in that time battled the currently no.1 Prime time program in Mega Manila, Grazilda who after being pitted against Imortal suffered a decrease form 14% to 11.2%. Grazilda fell from being no.1 on Friday to no.9 on Monday after Imortal made its grand Debut!
In AMAYA’s case, its rival, MLKI is only the 3rd in terms of ratings in Mega Manila, falling behind stronger kapamilya programs Mara Clara and 100 Days to Heaven, but the gap between MLKI and AMAYA is only 2.7%, far slimmer as compared to IMORTAL’s margin from Grazilda that stood 3.9%.
In terms of advertising loads, IMORTAL also loaded up better than AMAYA adding the fact that ABS-CBN’s ad rate is higher than that of GMA-7’s. AMAYA’s ad loads decreased by almost half from 16 ad minutes in its pilot episode to only 9 ad minutes last May 31, 2011!
IMORTAL debuted no.1 in Mega Manila, AMAYA premired no.2.
