‘Oblivion’ is Tom Cruise’s Upcoming Apocalypse Film

While the predicted Apocalypse did not materialize yesterday, "doomsday" will have already come and gone in Tom Cruise's newest film project titled "Oblivion."

“Oblivion” is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi feature from “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kasinski. Cruise ink the deal to star in the movie on Friday to prove that he is still the action megastar that he is despite his handing over the Mission Impossible franchise to co-star Jeremy Renner.

“Oblivion” the movie will be based on the graphic novel authored by Kasinski himself. According to reports, it has a whopping $100 million budget.

The film will feature Cruise as a lone soldier stuck on an uninhabitable Earth’s surface, fixing drones that protect the planet — and its sky-bound clone citizens, who live above the polluted clouds — from attacking aliens. When he finds a beautiful woman in a fallen ship, adventure and an awakening of a past life love ensue.
