GMA-7’s ‘Protégé: The Battle for the Big Break’ Begins Nationwide Auditions
July 13, 2011 by GMA-7
This September, the stars will align for a battle of stellar proportions as 10 legendary icons set out to find the biggest phenomenon of the music industry via GMA Network’s Protégé: The Battle for the Big Break.
Anticipation grows for this superstar search that defies the conventions of reality-based genres for its game-changing formula of finding the ultimate protégé from a broader search range for would-be-stars. The competition is open to all music artists—solo performers, duos, trios or groups with a maximum of 5 members—and the search has no age limit!
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid is the Journey Host of Protégé while Kapuso Network’s Multi-Awarded Drama Actor Dingdong Dantes is the Gala Presenter.
This search is said to be the biggest yet as Protégé taps the professional guidance of celebrity mentors who would scour the entire archipelago to find genuine and rare singing aspirants to battle it out for a chance to enter the highly-acclaimed gateway to musical stardom.
The impressive roster of high-profile and formidable mentors who would lead the hunt for their respective Protégés in the key provinces and cities around the country—Naga, Cebu, Iloilo, Batangas, Cabanatuan, Pampanga, Davao, Dagupan, Cagayan de Oro and Manila—are Janno Gibbs, Jaya, Jay-R, Rachelle Ann Go, Aiza Seguerra, Joey Generoso of Side A, Imelda Papin, Claire dela Fuente, Rey Valera, and Gloc 9.
The nationwide auditions will be held on the following dates and venues: SM Naga (July 15); SM Cebu (July 17); SM Iloilo (July 22); SM Batangas (July 24); NE Pacific Mall Cabanatuan (July 29); SM Pampanga (July 31); SM Davao (August 5); CSI Mall Dagupan (August 7); SM Cagayan de Oro (August 10); and SM Mall of Asia Music Hall (August 13). Auditions will be from 10am-6pm.
Aspirants need to bring the certified true copy and photocopy of their birth certificate and two photos (1 full body and 1 close-up). Those below 18 years need a written consent from their parents, and original and photocopy of their parent’s valid ID in order to qualify for the auditions.
They need to prepare at least two songs for the audition with minus-1 or perform with musical instruments. Applicants are encouraged to be in their most impressive outfits (dress to impress).
Catch this September the unparalleled display of singing sensations in Protégé only on GMA-7.
