Kim Kardashian Sues Gap for Using Look-Alike Model in TV Ad

Check out the Super C.U.T.E. TV commercial for Old Navy featuring a Kim Kardashian look-alike.

Reality star Kim Kardashian sued the apparel brand Gap on Wednesday for using a look-alike model in a TV commercial for its Old Navy brand.

Lawyers representing Kardashian said the TV commercial invokes Kardashian’s identity but instead hired a look-alike to promote the brand.

“Old Navy used Kardashian’s likeness in the form of a celebrity look-alike, and styled the infringing ads to evoke Kardashian’s identity and persona,” they said, citing some “compensatory and punitive damages.”

“Kim Kardashian is immediately recognizable, and is known for her look and style,” her lawyers emphasized in the statement. “Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them.”

Kim Kardashian, on the other hand, reasoned out that she needs to protect the products that she is currently endorsing that’s why she decided to file the lawsuit.

“I’ve worked hard to support the products I’m involved in and personally believe in,” she said.
